Week 31 | January 11 – 17, 2020

Woke up thinking I took no shots this week. Checked the camera and remembered the snow. That’s what cameras and pictures can do; help unleash those memories. That mine were only a few days old and lost tells me…what?

Delayed starts to school earlier in the week. Wednesday was cancelled all together.

Not many shots to pick from this week. Cold pushes me inside.

Chicago – Look Up

January darkness and cold has wrapped up Seattle and suffocated my photography breath. Well, sort of.

It is hard to go out and shoot. Rain. Cold. Darkness, an obvious foe of our hobby.

I’m still shooting. But I’m also revisiting some older shoots. I wanted to put some more from our December trip to Chicago and picked the following shots:

Week 30 | January 4 – 10, 2020

Winter is here. Dark days with rain. Wind comes off Puget Sound and everything is colder than the temperature gauge. Next week forecast is snow. At least snow can be photographed.

Conspiring with the weather, the legal workload has been high and will probably grow higher in the next couple of months. I can’t and won’t complain. It’s good, challenging work.

Digging through my meager batch of snaps, I’ve selected a few. All JPEGs, of course. Classic Chrome. But posting them only out of obligation. I doubt any make a “best of” list.

Kimpton Gray, Chicago

We’ve stayed at several Kimptons. Over Christmas we had the good fortune to stay at the Kimpton Gray in Chicago.

The service was excellent. They steered us to The Second City and several great restaurants.

Here’s some shots from The Kimpton Gray:

Week 29 | December 28 – January 3, 2020

Another week. This time we click over the calendar to a new year and a new decade. Twenty years now since the y2k “scare;” since we partied like it’s 1999.

This week’s photos feature some scans from a roll of Ilford HP5 400 shot at Fisherman’s Terminal. One from Chicago and one from an Uber ride return. Such a diverse set shows my rich and varied life. I am lucky.

Chicago

Spent Christmas week in Chicago. Crazy? We booked the trip in early fall. What do we care if it’s cold? We’ll eat. Museums. Those are inside. Right?

Then the Thanksgiving cold snap blew through and scared the bejabbers out of us. But we need not worry! Sixty degrees! Yes. Sixty!

Here’s some shots:

Chicago. December 25, 2019. Fuji x100f.
Chicago. December 25, 2019. Fuji x100f.
Art Institute of Chicago. December 26, 2019. Fuji x100f.
Field Museum, Chicago. December 27, 2019. Fuji x100f.
Andersonville, Chicago. December 27, 2019. Fuji x100f.

I’ll post more later. I took 300 – 400 shoots. Kept probably 200. Tough to cull down for reasonable sized posts.
